The following link will direct you to the second notice of negotiated proposed rulemaking sent out by the Department of Education. http://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/proposed-rule-links-federal-student-aid-loan-repayment-rates-and-debt-earnings. July 26, 2010 began the 45 day window in which to respond. All CCST member schools are encouraged to submit comments to the Department of Education.

CCA Announces Name Change

The Greek philosopher Heraclitus said that one can never stand in the same river twice—that change is constant. That statement is never truer than when applied to our dynamic sector of higher education. Therefore, I am excited to report that yesterday your Board of Directors voted to change the Career College Association name, adopted almost 20 years ago, to the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU). The vote culminates a rigorous, multistep review process that began in 2005, including a detailed survey of member preferences last December. In voting the change, the Board recognizes the evolution of career oriented education from its primarily trade school roots to a multi-dimensional, multi-faceted, multi-modal philosophy of higher education delivery that directly responds to the demands of 21st century students, employers, and the larger economy. The phrase "private sector" is synonymous with innovation in virtually every walk of life, and the public's faith in private sector solutions to solve most of society's biggest challenges will carry over into the realm of higher education too. » Read More
